THE OPEN SPACE

IMAGES, WORDS, AND THE SPACES BETWEEN THEM

The Open Space brings together my work in images, essays, and dialogues,

and my never-ending reading list.

The title honors Peter Brook’s insight that an empty space becomes alive the moment it is entered with intention—an idea that defined my years in theatre and the arts, and continues to influence how I look at the world.

The Images (under construction) show how color and detail reveal true meaning; for me,

The Words explore my thoughts on many topics.

The Dialogues (under construction) are completely imaginary, featuring authors from The Library,

The Library is being updated continuouslyIt is heavy on history and philosophy, but there is also variety.

This site gathers those threads into an open, intentional space

where elements of the world that are meaningful to me can unfold.

The Open Space is completely idiosyncratic.

I am not attempting to convince anyone of anything.

“I do not write my book for the public; I write it for myself.”

Michel de Montaigne

(Essais, Book III, Chapter 5)
